Toileting/Nappies
Nappies are checked regularly, and changed immediately if soiled. Please ensure that you have provided enough disposable nappies for your child’s time at the Centre.
Toilet Training begins when appropriate for each child’s age and stage of development. This is usually between the ages of 2 & 4. When your child is showing signs of being ready to be toilet trained, please discuss this with one of the teachers. We will consult with you about the methods you use at home so we can be consistent with those, but we are sure you will understand that we are not always as successful as you are due to meeting all our children’s needs. As our environment is a lot busier here than at home, children often 'forget' and are likely to have the odd extra accident in comparison to at home.
A teacher will regularly remind them to use the toilet, or take them to the toilet, and help them to change if they are wet at any time. Children will be offered frequent opportunities for toileting, particularly after meals and before sleep periods. Our objective during this process is to keep the child comfortable and to give the child a sense of pride and accomplishment.
Please dress your child in pants, skirts or shorts that are easy to pull up and down. Part of toilet training is teaching the child to go to the toilet independently. Parents are asked to supply extra clothing during the training period.
