"We couldn't have picked a better place for our daughter to start her learning journey. The staff and teachers at WELC are all fantastic, caring, well trained and nurturing. The environment indoors and outdoors is awesome and so much fun for all children, it really caterers for all different needs as all children learn and thrive differently. We found they communicated extremely well I always felt well informed about our daughter and they were always so happy to help towards all my daughters needs from toilet training, and gaining confidence in things she was unsure of or anxious about and the 4 year old program which helped her become ready for school, they really helped to shape her into the confident little girl she is today. WELC really felt like part of our family and our daughter was sad to leave once she went off to school. "When we first moved to Westport and were visiting schools for my then 2 year old, we were welcomed with open arms by the teachers of WELC. From day one, Ava was comforted and loved by the amazing teachers. I can honestly say that the teachers at WELC love the kids as if they were their own. They also offered lots of advice and friendship through our years at the centre. The centre itself has got a safe and homely “feel” to it and it is always kept to the highest standards with the help of the hardworking teachers and staff. At WELC kids are encouraged to explore, play, push the boundaries and build relationships while all the way being guided by the amazing teachers. Ava particularly enjoyed the 4 year old programme as this was in her eyes seen as the “big kids club!”. In this programme they got to go on day trips, visit North School assembly, and learn skills that needed for Primary School. We were lucky to be pat of such a great school community and would recommend WELC to all whanau."  - Angelique Marais

"Both of my children currently attend Westport Early Learning Centre and are very happy there. I love the way that the individual needs of my two very different children are well catered for. There is a great outdoor space for my busy son (4), who spends most of his time outdoors creating 'dinosaur land' or on the pirate ship or spaceship (playground) travelling to faraway lands. The 'young explorers' programme has been fantastic for introducing him to some structured learning. My daughter (2) started in the infant and toddlers area and formed a close bond with her teachers there. The transition process (into the over 2's area) was seamless and she is very happy in the new environment with her brother. I feel that the staff really take the time to get to know each child, and cater the learning to their interests, with an emphasis on play based learning.
