Early Years
The
Westport Early Learning Centre (WELC) was set up in 1989 by its founding committee and Mrs Louise Smith the first Supervisor,
primarily to offer childcare facilities to support working families. This saw the establishment of Westport's first all-day Early Childhood Centre. We are registered as an incorporated society
and have charitable status. WELC
originally operated out of a converted home at 36 Orowaiti Road, Westport. In 2009 we moved to our current purpose built Centre , next to the Solid Energy Centre in Pakington Street.
